Yamaha Is Moving Its USA Headquarters Out of California

This is directly related to the article linked in my post from yesterday. If you don't have the time to read the entire article here is the bottom line summary.....

Yamaha has made the decision to move away from the rest of the motorcycle industry, primarily to reduce its payroll and facility expenses, and to keep the company profitable.

This decision comes at a crucial time for Yamaha, as the company has seen its top-line revenue drop considerably, as a result of the company’s diminished sales. The only way to counter that trend is to reduce expenses, with location and payroll being two big areas where Yamaha can make significant improvements

Why anyone would set up an office in CA is beyond me. Of course 1/2 of CA was owned by Japanese companies going back to the 80's because they were fleeing japan.

I quizzed my Yamaha dealer about the move and he said he'd suspected as much two years ago.
Yamaha already has large ATV and PWC production facilities here in Georgia in addition to an existing corporate office.
Right up the road from Atlanta in Alpharetta is the Honda training facility and a HUGE parts warehouse and tech support center.
I got to tour that years ago and it was incredible! =)
So, bring 'em on!

I consider the move to Georgia to be a good idea and make sense. But the racing team? That's sad.

Charles.
