Big bore

Yamaha lists the generic SCR for the engine at 9.1, but actual is probably more like 8.6-8.8, they round numbers, just like with displacement.

Sure, as long as they have blanks, most cam grinders will grind you a cam, but can check with Cuervo Racing, Web Cams, HPS, Megacycle, and the likes. I'm kind of newly getting back into bikes, so not familiar with the manufacturers involved, but will look into it

I see a lot of cams for the V-Star 950 & 1100, so would have to research the engine families and see what is interchangeable. If they are compatible, might be able to do a jug, piston, rod upgrade for a 'big bore' type upgrade, and go to 1100.

.
Was thinking about a 1300 but would have to run a radiator. Would rather make parts for the 950 due to the fact that there are more out there. Will call web about the cams. Thanks

VERY good to know, thank you!

If you go much bigger, keep in mind head port work, intake work, and possibly a higher flow/bigger throttle body will be required to take advantage of the profile.

You can do mild smoothing of port surfaces and pick up considerable flow. When you have it apart, post pics please, and others can chime in and possibly provide tips/hints.

I suggest you use an ECU that is configurable on the fly too.

Going to let the pros(Melissa) at Web decide on profiles. The are the best. My Plan is to run a power commander with auto tune with two O2 sensors.

In a similar vein of getting more performance from this platform, anyone seen the lad on the Bolt forum who’s fitted a Turbo to his bike?
