Shopping new exhaust

Hi all - this is my first post. Nice looking forum you have here.

I picked up a 2017 SCR yesterday and put my first 60 miles on it. Looking for suggestions on mods. Stock pipe (and airbox) have to go. It didn't completely annoy me but for sure my knee was bumping the airbox. Regarding a pipe I found this;

Anybody own this pipe? Anyway any suggestions/links greatly appreciated. I'm in Florida. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully @SCRBen will give you the full story on the Danmoto. He knows all the in and outs with that exhaust, good and bad.

My recommendation is to send your ECU to Ivan for a reflash along with the exhaust and air intake changes. That was by far the best performance mod of these few that I have done.

1) K&N air intake
2) opened up my stock exhaust with a 1.5" bimetal hole saw.
3) Ivan's reflash

Have fun!

Thank you, Schu.

Still in learn mode right now but an ECU flash is definitely part of the plan. Is there a thread regarding the stock pipe mod you performed?

Wander? Us?
No more than an unaccompanied 6 year old in WalMart on a Saturday afternoon. ;-)

Welcome, Jeff!
This group's seen/done a lot with the SCR.
Stuff's in here. You just might have to dig a bit.
Don't hesitate to ask, though! We revisit old topics often and happily!

A well worn topic here and on the Star Bolt forum, so I'll just add a couple of links in addition to the previous advice. Turns out the stock muffler is pretty good and the features offered by aftermarket replacements tend to include one or more of the following:

Sound (louder and/or deeper rumble); Appearance (aesthetics); Ground Clearance; Weight; Performance (slight improvement in horsepower/torque).

If you are interested in performance gain and improved drivability, then a ECU flash is the best route to go. Ivan’s website has the details:
Ivan's Performance Products

The premium Akropovic is well regarded for its top construction quality and partnership history with Yamaha. They offer a catalyst insert (presently unobtanium) to remain compliant with emissions regulations, should you choose.

Word has it the more affordable Danmoto is obnoxiously loud. Here’s a good place to start:

Cheers!

Here's the video that got me to try it. Probably got 2k on this mod and still happy with it.

Hiya mate, and welcome.

Here’s my thread on the Danmoto install - you’ll see all the details, but it needs just a little modding if you want it to fit properly (it’s designed for the Bolt), and you’ll need to supply some of the fixings yourself:

https://www.scr950forum.com/forum/63...o-arrived.html

As for sound - “obnoxious”? - not sure about that, but it is loud. Here’s a little vid I made:

I’ve now swapped it for the Akrapovic, also mentioned elsewhere on this thread. Completely the opposite end of the spectrum. Expensive, but I picked up one cheap on fleaBay. It’s actually the one for the Bolt, but that’s alright by me, as that has a removable baffle - the one designed for the SCR does not (due to Euro 4 regs). It’s a lot quieter than the Danmoto, lower and rumbler (is that a word?!), but still very nice when you get on it. I still need to make a vid of that one.

As also said above, have a good look around - plenty of info on here.

I’ll pop in here to say I finally got my Danmoto installed and have only been able to take one ride so far with the pipe. Nice sound, it’s only “too loud” if you typically ride with the Hoity-toity touring set with whisper quiet BarcaLoungers. Anyone that likes v-twins should like this exhaust. Yeah, it makes noise but that’s the point. As for any noticeable riding “feel” changes (not looking for power out of this one), I was too cold to notice. Yeah, still **** cold here. Snowing this AM.
