How not to save money by building your own seat. ;-)

Before someone comes out with a "real" replacement seat, I'm going to try and construct my own from scratch - seat pan, foam, covering, hardware and everything!
This is the home construction version of the ******* mantra, "Here, hold my beer while I try something."
