Any leads on a skidplate?

I daily my SCR and due to my job end up on rocky dirt tracks often enough to be worried. I've also been unfortune enough to scrape the frame once on a sort of homade speedbump that was too high for even walking it over.

I was wondering if anyone was willing to sell me an official yam one or if there were any leads to someone who I could pay to make me one. I've seen a couple on eBay but shipping price and coverage make me weary.

Closest I've gotten so far is emailing a small Japanese manufacturer that makes SCR specific parts but sadly they politely declined the business, I assume the mither of shipping international. Anyone have any ideas ?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'd make one out of a big cutting board, you can also paint it black so it looks good.
That stuff is tough and easy to work with.
Cut it like wood with a skill saw or hand saw and bend by heating it with a torch or heat gun. Mount it with large zip ties.
I've done this to a couple dirt bikes it works fine.

It says they only have one left!

This would be perfect but I can't get it shipped to the UK.

Oh, really? I would double check that. They have a number you can call for international shipping... International Shipping Policy - RevZilla

I hope it works as they look to have the best price.

One note on the OEM skid plate, it only covers the front of the motor, and doesn't cover the whole crank case. I think it would protect in most situations, but I'm actually considering fabricating my own skid plate to extend further back.

I'll take a photo later if I think about it.
The coverage is definitely interesting here, I may go your route and try fabrication. I have the revzilla thing a go again but no luck, I believe it's something specific to the UK.

Hope it's not rude to ask but is your rear brake pedal bolt tight enough? I only ask because I had mine almost rattle lose a few months ago and yours seems similar right now, I'm sure you know what you're doing, just thought I'd mention just in case

Not rude at all! In fact, you are 100% correct, that bolt was actually bent, so I just ordered a new one! Just had the brakes fully serviced and they (and I) totally missed it. Now that I look, I can see evidence the previous owner dropped it on that side, which clearly bent the bolt. Thanks for the catch, my friend!!

Disappointing they cannot send that part to you from Revzilla! Nevertheless, it shouldn't be too hard to fabricate a better skid plate from sheet metal. I would think 12 gauge would work. The OEM looks to be maybe 10-12 gauge. If you got a 24" x 12" sheet, it should more than cover.

Best of luck, and thanks again!!
I ordered one from Fowlers of Bristol, the Yam spares specialists, back in March - they checked and found these OEM accessories were still in stock.... in Japan! So delivery, they said, could be a few months. Stil haven't arrived but you've reminded me to contact Fowlers to see what the state of play is.
Seems to be a lot of parts, even third party, in Japan. Got through to yahoo marketplace Japan (their eBay equivalent) by using a VPN. There was a surprising amount of pretty unique and rare SCR parts, still half tempted to try and order something from there. Wish we had that kind of aftermarket availability here.
Evening AJ,
I made a guard and posted a couple of pictures of it in April, thread labelled 'sump guard'. If you like the look of it I've a spare blank I'll send you the dimensions of. Lugs.

Looks pretty awesome, especially a fan of the rubber to prevent vibrations and it's reassuring to know the gaps don't have to be massive for cooling. Thanks for mentioning it.
I bet there's one at the yamaha dealer in dartmouth nova scotia canada.
I ordered one with my bike about a year ago, it went on back order so I cancelled it and got a refund.
It showed up last december, I got a call that they had it but dont need it or want it, I only ordered it to bump up my purchase price to get better financing.

I too have the Yam guard and thought it didn't go back far enough... I'd like to cover that area with a fix like @Dustyroads suggested 🤙

Gave it a shot messaging just in case they're happy shipping it, thanks for the tip!
I ordered the Stock skid plate. Bashed it a couple weeks ago. The Real Cheep clamps bent and the rock scraped the frame. It’s underneath but that’s beside the point. A damn skid plate is to protect and serve…
So… I’m in the middle of fabricating my own mounts.
I am convinced though, that it is good protection against street crap and Grime.

Big surprise this morning.... I've just had an email from Fowlers Yamaha saying my OEM skidplate and engine bars will be delivered next Tuesday - it's only taken 6 months to get them here from Japan, but better late than never.
Wow that's insane. I ordered some pannier racks to strap some bags too from fehling (no car licence so a massive difference in my life to have luggage two months ago and after wrong estimate after wrong estimate I contacted the actual manufacturer. They told me the last ones they made were in may and they have no clue when they'll be made again. Had to cancel my first holiday in a long time because no room for a tent to Scotland and a backpack on my partner's back is unworkable. At this rate I'm going to be strapping 30L bags to my crash bars.
That's interesting to hear - I'd planned to order a Fehling rack and pannier support rails, but it sounds like it will be no go, for the time being at least. Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip - as you say, without a rack/rails luggage ability becomes a big challenge, especially 2-up.

I managed to email them directly and they informed me that although they haven't made the saddlebag mounts since may (and don't know when they will make them again) they are delivering the rack you talked about again.

On the subject of the skid plate I've decided fuck it, I.dont ride dirt enough and since it wasn't as much of a pain as I thought to repaint the bottom of the frame I'm just gonna do that each year.
