Engine warning light

Good Evening All,
I rode to work as normal this morning, six miles of dark, wet black top. Stopped at the main gate, pulled away again and the engine warning light came on. The bike was parked up all day, started faultlessly but the light was still on. Rode home, six miles of merely damp black top, the bike behaved perfectly, allbeit with the engine light still glowing continuously. I've checked all the electrical connections I can find and cant see anything wrong. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Thanks, Lugs.

I presume it’s not bringing up any error codes on the speedo?

If it doesn’t, and the light stays on, go and get it plugged in at your local dealers, and they’ll tell you what it is. It’s probably something minor, but almost impossible to guess what…..

Been to the brilliant local independent bike shop who ran an ECU scan for me. There was an O2 sensor fault locked in which disappeared on reset. With the benefit of hindsight I can say that saturating the exhaust with WD40 to stave off road salt may be counter-productive.

Lol - yeah, it’s quite often something simple like that. These bikes seem to have very sensitive ‘fault detecting’ software, which illuminates the CEL light on a whim!!

Glad you got it sorted (y)

WD40 will just wash off though - get some ACF50, or even FS365 (Scotoiler stuff) if you’re serious about keeping the dreaded salt at bay ;)

Cheers,

Ben
