After a lot of problems while driving in the rain (wet pants, engine wet all the way to the tank), I decided to install a fender skirt.
I bought a Puig 9289N front fender skirt and glued it on with epoxy two part glue.
Now the sputtering is much less, especially on the engine. The pants are still wet.
I think it's worth the investment.
