so, after installing the luggage rack, that finally arrived from Germany after over a month of ordering it...

I have decided to go with a Givi top case ...

the only problem here is that, the rack states that the maximum weight is 5KG
which I personally believe it can easily take much more than that, since the metal quality is so high, also the mounting points are so strong and stable

so , no issues putting a little bit more of a weight,
not talking about over loading it, but just for the helmet and some of the gear...
(balaclava, gloves, ear plugs, ...)

on Revzilla website, they say that Monokey can be easily mounted, and has more (rack top plate universal adapters)

it can be anywhere from 30L capacity up to 47L
I think I will be somewhere in the middle... like maybe 37L
just so that it won't be so bulky nor so little and useless

they also have brake light kits, so it would even make better visibility in the night commute

any opinions / suggestions / experiences ? since I'd be buying blindly... never seen this stuff before nor have any prior experience....

here are some photos for the cargo rack and pannier mounts...

(will plan later on for either saddle bags or side boxes... but for now I am so enthusiastic to get this top case

I bought this for the luggage rack on my EX500 Survival bike: https://www.ebay.com/itm/263083673597

I really, really like it. It's not Givi by any means, but it's robust and waterproof and easily detached. And $40 for 30 L of storage.

I've attached a pic of it on the bike.

JC Whitney used to sell these (before they quit the motorcycle parts business), and there used to be a 40L as well. I can't find the 40L on eBay right now, but it looked like a knockoff of the Givi, just like this 30L does.

Great case.... I like it... and way more economic than GIVI stuff,, which I'd be buying the mounting hardware ONLY for $66 in addition to a couple of hundred dollars case....

but do you think the base mounting plate won't be too wide for the rack I have?

they usually include the tail bag dimensions, but not the mount...

Well, here you go for measurements, as well as pics of the mounting bracket.

Extending over the rack is no big deal, the bracket is sandwhiched on using steel bars. I replaced the original hardware with bolts I had laying around, because the hardware that came with it was overly long. The only thing you have to mind is if your rack has any curve in it. If it does, you'll have to make some spacers so that the bracket doesn't bend. If the bracket bends even slightly, it makes removing and installing the trunk a real pain in the arse.

I borrowed a measuring tape today from a coworker and got these measurments

I do like the XL tail box A LOT
but being 23X17 is probably a deal breaker...
since my rack is only 7 inches, that will make it 10 inches out of it...
I mean, being a bit extended is fine, but I think 10 is too much... ??? or what do you think??

i am almost sold on it... specially that it's like 50$ bucks and free shipping...

would the plastic base be able to hold it?
and would 10 extra inch be OK?
also 9 inches wide, to be extended to 23 !!

Hrm, that rack is a lot smaller than I thought it was. You might be better off mounting the top cases on the side as saddlebags, and try a canvas or leather bag on the rack.

I just got another idea...
To put a rack aluminum top plate... Just to widen it enough and give it a bit of length
Not to overload it though... But just to distribute weight...
I found some aluminum plates online.. but over prices just coz they are made for motorcycles..

Look in a ditch for a run over road sign and "procure" some really good aluminum from a bent one of those. Aircraft paint stripper to remove the signage and drill & cut what's left to suit. =)
