I'd like to solve the puzzle corey! Is it a painted factory exhaust?
(I'd post a Wheel of Fortune image if there was one for this)
Close! The paint was to cover a spot where I had a bung welded onto my new exhaust. Long story short I got an amazon gift card and decided to try a new exhaust. I got the 16" slash cut shorty muffler from dime city cycles. It was a super easy install and I've noticed a little more power. It is louder for sure but I plan on repacking the baffle with more fiberglass to quiet it a little. I mainly went for looks because the original muffler was a little bulky in my opinion for the type of bike. So far not issues. I'm a little worried about running too rich now. If anyone has any advice on how to check for that I'd greatly appreciate it!

Good news! I shot a quick video. My neighbors don't exactly love having a bike rev'd outside their window so I had to be quick.

Here's the update so far: initial install was good. No issues and bike was running fine. I already planned to repack the baffle since it was a little loud in the first place. So after about 1 hour total of riding I pull out the baffle and all the fiberglass has been blown out and it's basically a straight pipe. (The picture is all the fiberglass left) Luckily the the packing I bought it a lot more dense so I'm hoping it holds up. I haven't ridden with the new repack but it sounds great on startup and a little more beefy.

That muffler makes the scr950 sound better than stock, smoother when you rev it too. Your neighbors just needs to develop a taste for the finer things in life.
I really like it! Total cost I spent around $100 and the good thing is I didn't make any modifications that I can't reverse if I wanted to go stock.

Haha and I've been called by management for doing laundry too loud ? This place is ridiculous.

For a $100 that's basically a steal to achieve that sort of sound, some guys with other bikes would kill for this.
Looking forward to seeing what else you have planned
It really brings out a great sound in the bike! I have a couple ideas for some cool mods but it requires some permanent changes and I'm not sure I'm ready for that commitment haha.

Ugh seems like you live in a prison lmao. But hey, sounds good for sure. I like it.

Have you noticed any changes in performance or mpg or anything ?
My lease ends in June. I'm outta here after that! Technically we aren't even allowed to work on cars/bikes in our own garages.

Performance has gone up for sure. I notice I'm shifting at higher speeds but I doesn't appear RPM is higher (it's hard to tell now that the bike is louder and no tach). I used to cruise around 80 on the freeway and it was fine but since the new exhaust 80 feels like 60 lol. I'm tracking mpg right now to check. I would guess a drop in mpg but I'm hoping it's not a lot. Haha It seems like I fill up every other day anyways.

slow and steady wins the race, the race meaning enjoying every step of the way with your bike to the point when you make changes, the changes are easily noticeable and thus rewarding.

keep us posted on how the changes go over time.

I've got the 12" and couldn't get it to fit snug, any advice?
