Hey everyone, new forum member here. I bought my SRC950 last month during an end-of-year clearance sale and had the opportunity to ride it just once so far. It's been way too cold in the Chicago burbs otherwise, but my 40 mile first ride was awesome! Lot's of power, plenty of street cred, and it's way more comfortable than a standard cruiser (at least for me since I'm 6' and lanky).

I used to ride Honda Ruckus before upgrading to an actual motorcycle and have tons of experience modding, so I have loads of plans for my new ride. I'm also a leather-worker so I have a bunch of accessory ideas swimming in my head. I'll post pics as soon as I get to making a few things. Here's what I have planned:

1. Custom tool pouch, because what's with that plastic capsule UNDERNEATH a panel you need a tool to get at?!

2. Custom saddle bags

2A. I bought the bolt's saddlebag mounts without the other mounting brackets that would have set me back another $300. So, Mod 2A is figuring out how to work with what I've got

3. Move license plate to the side and get rid of the ugly black fender extension.

4. Maybe shave down the seat foam. Not sure yet since it seemed comfortable enough after a 2 hour ride

5. Find some new footpegs

6. Custom paint job: make the bike look art-deco because I'm a HUGE fan of Dieselpunk.

That's all I got for now, and if anyone's ever in my area & wants to ride hit me up!

Hey Man. Welcome to SCR Land. If I was you, I'd put her in the house or she's gonna get soaking wet. Condensation. I live up in Chicagoland too and I found mine covered in water in my Garage. Mine looks similar. It was that day it warmed up real fast after those two weeks of below zero temps we had in early Jan. I went out to look at the bike and it and everything in my Garage was soaking wet. I moved all the power tools and a drill press into the house. And I moved my brand new.. Just over 600 miles SCR950 into my dining room. Just an FYI.
Im not doing a thing to mine. But an extra tool pouch sounds like a dam good idea. Post a pic when ya get in on there.

Thats a dam good point about the tool kit. You need a tool to remove the panel to get to the tool kit.
If you look on the posts on here. A lot of our SCR Brothers have come up with ways to modify the side plates
so that you dont need a screwdriver to remove em. They use various pins and setups so that the plates are easily removable.
There are a whole bunch of posts to helpon that one. And many more.
Search SCR Land. You will be amazed at what our memebers have done to their SCR's.
Happy trails... When it warms up.

Thanks for the tips @Mellowrider, and thanks for the welcome @Burke. I haven't experienced much in the way of condensation since my garage has been bone dry but I'll keep any eye on it. There's not great way of getting the bike inside my house at the moment, but if push comes to shove, ima shove! ... or wait for another slight warm-up and clean/wax my new ride.

At any rate, I took the day off tomorrow to take my car in for a tune-up so I'll have time to finish up my tool pouch. I started it this morning so it should be done by tomorrow afternoon if I focus on it. I'll start a new thread under "What did you do to your SCR950 today" sub forum so I can start keeping track of my "mods" in an orderly fashion and post some pics on there. I did see the threads about switching out the phillips screws for some thumb screws, etc, but a leather bag just seems more retro, and retro is ALL OVER the SCR. I figured why not go with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Glad to see another Northern Illiniosian on here btw.
