Just got my bike yesterday, amazing deal... picked the Gray color.. in pictures the red seems nicer, but in person Gray looks way better... (personal preference though)

haven't ridden in 4 years... back to the track again... once I saw the SCR950 didn't take me too much to think about it... I was sold already ..

the ride is nice,... just this weird vibration after 60-65 MPH
hopefully it's a (break-in) thing that would go later !

Welcome and congrats on the new bike!

The engine will loosen up and get a little better. After a few thousand miles, maybe have the throttle body synchronization checked. That can help, too. =)

Might as well just keep putting on more miles and take note of what's happening but at the same time let your dealer know just so there's some more track record of it.

well.. so far due to super busy schedule at work, couldn't ride it that much, only put 112 miles

however I am feeling that the ride is getting better the more I use it

I was on a road the other day, cruising around 60-65 (it's not a highway, but just one of those fast roads) then the wind started blowing from my left side, and it was moving me out of my lane !!!!

I wasn't sure what's wrong, as the bike is not light, neither am i (I am around 180 LBS)

also I wasn't cruising on a bridge, or even highway !!

maybe it was that "wax substance" on the tires??

anyone experienced the same??

on the other hand... vibration has already gone.....it was just the very first few miles ... and corners got much better....

Hey, Congrats on the new bike. Man I had the same problems several times now. The SCR950 dont like wind!
We had 15-20 mph with gusts to 25 today and the bike just blows around. I was goin 45-50 and the gusts move me around. Noticed it before. Its just one of those bikes that
doesnt do well in the wind. I dont know any bikes that do though. But yea it blows you around your lane. Wind hits and feels like the bottom of the tires are going sideways and the bike leans etc etc.
And it made me drift around. I took the better part of my gut and took it home. Its not that I couldnt have kept riding. It was just a bit un nerving to me.
Ive only got about 4 good years of riding under my belt. When its windy. I try not to ride it.
Any of you veterans have any idea why the wind affects the scr 950. Or is it like any other bike in high winds?
I have a 40 year old kawasaki kz750 twin.. I tried to never ride that one in the wind either. But this bike seems like its worse in the wind. The scr is 4 pounds heavier than the old KZ 750... But its hard for me to control in wind. One day on the old kz 750... the wind hit and I found myself riding for miles with the bike leaned way over into the wind coming from my right.
Well its the last time I want to have to do that. I wait for good weather or I dont ride.
Wonder if Eddie has any wind advice?
I don't have a lot of wind problem experience. That's if one doesn't count owning two Transalps and a KLR650 & riding in traffic with semis rolling past, making the bikes move around like sailboats in a squall. ;-)
Seriously, crosswinds are going to affect some bikes more than others. Even my former GL1800s would get a good shove every now & then. The SCR950? It's going to suffer some.
I noticed the same thing moving from my Virago 1100 to this SCR. I attribute it to the taller upright riding posture required with the new SCR. My Virago had a 23" seat height and this SCR has I believe a 32" seat height. Any side wind hitting you up that much higher off the road surface is going to be much more noticeable and your natural reaction is to counter steer and lean into the wind.

thanks bro
I am starting to get used to it little by little
first time I wouldn't see it coming, now I feel the wind blowing and I would adjust my position in the lane ahead ... specially on curves and turns on the highway
today I took the bike for a spin around the block... that for some reason ended up to be 67 miles ! lol
I am just loving the bike... decided to take it on several freeways, for a while just to break in the slippery tires....
and I noticed that the tires are now more broke in on the main part
however, the sides are still slippery.. probably need to put some miles while cornering and in the city driving

gas consumption is a bit high.... probably because it is in the break in period too... i mean I just put 2 gallons last week and since then only 80 miles .. and now already it took 2 more gallons !

so it's like 40 mpg for now ....

can't wait to get the first maintenance done, just to feel the difference....

great forum, and great input from everyone....

I've learned a lot, and I hope my input can add too

Ye olde chicken strips, sometimes they're juicy and other times not so much. :D
Welcome to the forum! Mileage may vary depending on how much fun you have.
If you think the SCR is unstable in crosswinds you should try the TDM 850/900 !
It carries its weight low down and isn't anything to worry about. Things can get a bit lively if the wind is 50 mph plus but so can any other bike.
Vibration gets less as the engine gets run in and fitting road tyres reduces it by around 50%.
As for mpg it depends how you ride it and in what type of streetscape / road.
I've never noticed it to be thirsty.
