Are there any intake kits out there for the scr950?

Heard someone mention that their knee kept hitting the air cleaner. It may be a common thing with v-twin cruisers, but it could still get irritating and aftermarket intake kits should fix that issue.

Did they happen to post their specs like; height, inseam, etc? Interested in knowing this since for example someone taller could clear the air cleaner without issue. Much different for someone shorter with a smaller inseam.

Hi guys,

I'm 6' 1" and I can confirm that I have a love/hate relationship with my SCR950 regarding the knee hitting the airbox issue. I'm constantly checking internet for a solve, but nothing comes up. I just wish I could secure my legs more around the tank so I don't feel like a kite everytime I'm over 50mph.

Can anyone direct me to a solve or an ongoing thread?

K&N (Knee-Nocker)

I can speak for the K&N intake. It is still a knee knocker. Possibly worse than stock because the stock unit has a radius to the shape where the K&N is boxier.

Any yamaha bolt intake will work. smallest one I found is Vance & Hines Naked VO2. it's what I use.
Sorry for the noobie question, but ... I'm assuming you also need to upgrade the exhaust and whatever brains tell the injectors how much to squirt? It's not just for anti-knee knocking?

(Or can you run an aftermarket air intake on these bikes without over-leaning them?)

I put a Kuryachyn Velociraptor intake on and nothing else. She runs awesome and sounds great! Very, very minimal popping on deceleration. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you can change the exhaust OR the intake without having to reflash the ECU or buy a Power Commander. I had better check out the spark plugs, just to be sure!

You got any photos of that, showing how far it intrudes into knee space?

Last spring, after a fair amount of research I ordered the V&H VO2 Naked intake/air filter kit. I was thrilled to receive an impeccably machined aluminum intake maniflold c/w beautifully finished mounting plate and quality hardware. As expected the threads on the mounting plate had been painted post machining and chasing a tap through the threads was required to clean them up a bit. Apparently this posed some difficulty for a few customers as I have read numerous complaints...
