My Experience with Ivan’s Reflash and the BoosterPlug

Bought my SCR with 20,000 miles. Beat up, but runs great for what it is. I was very bothered, however, by the jerkiness when you let off the throttle. I have 4 other bikes and none of them do that. So I went the route of the Ivan reflash. Some changes were noticeable in power, but it did not fix my problem. I was really frustrated because I was sure, based on the reviews on this forum, that it would. So I took a chance and installed the BoosterPlug today. Now THAT is what I was looking for. It didn’t completely eliminate the jerkiness either, but the smoothness and increased power delivery now feels right to me.

My next upgrades will be airbox and exhaust, but I couldn’t move forward until I addressed this issue. So just wanted people to know that the BoosterPlug was what fixed my problems.

So you paired the two or would you just do the booster plug if you could do it over?
I kept Ivan’s reflash. I did not send the ECU to get re flashed to stock. I could not tell the difference with Ivan’s flash. The booster plug made all the difference.
So you could not tell any difference with Ivan? Not even power?

I could not feel a difference. I felt more difference when I put a larger intake. Mind you, what I was looking for was for a smoothing of the power band. For that particular change, I felt absolutely no improvement, and that is something that Ivan specifically advertises for.
And he states 20+hp over stock. you would feel that. That's disheartening. I was looking forward to his solution for my mods being capitalized. With the V&N intake and bored throttle bodies paired with an exhaust, I'm sure I'm running fairly lean. Did you at least lose the pop on decel with his flash?

Yes, I believe I lost more pop on decel, but the boosterplug eliminated all of it. I personally don’t mind pop on decel, since it does not damage the engine and it sounds cool.

p.s. 20hp my ass

I too did the Ivan's reflash, BUT I also swapped out the intake for a Cobra and the exhaust for a Bassani 2 into 1. These 3 mods TOGETHER completely transformed this bike! I would be willing to bet a can of beer that MY bike has 20 more horsepower! It sure feels like it. I was VERY skeptical about Ivan's reflash for a loooong time, just ask Schu. My only regret is not doing it sooner. I urge you to make the other 2 mods and report back. Now...
Where can I find a dyno around here? Jevers

What sort of beer? Are we talking Busch Light or maybe Guinness Stout? It makes a difference.

Cold beer 🍺 😋! Good question, though.
Piggybacking on Jevers, I thought the Ivan's reflash was meant to be paired with exhaust and airbox upgrades. I'm not sure it would really work right to have stock exhaust and airbox with the fuel map, etc. he programs into it. I could be wrong.

I totally agree with Jevers that if you're going to do Ivan's reflash, you need to also upgrade intake / slipon. Without a new intake, the SCR is just begging for more air. @Praxguy, sorry to hear you don't feel any difference. I upgraded all 3 (velociraptor intake / V&H slip on / Ivan's reflash) and it completely fixed the jerky throttle while also delivering MUCH more power. I personally think reflashing or adding in a power commander or something similar is borderline pointless without addressing the intake. Not to mention that my knee doesn't hit that stock 'toaster-look-a-like' intake anymore 🤣.

I did the Ivan’s reflash alone and eliminated the jerky throttle altogether.
The smooth throttle control is mandatory when going slow in 1st or 2nd gear on these dirt roads here in So Cal.

I have to say that I had this problem but I only changed my intake and no reflash and that alone took care of the throttle problem.

I'd love 20+hp but all the research points to about 1/2 that. Still a big improvement over stock. The throttle blip is still pretty scary when you try to feather the throttle coming out of a turn. I'm getting used to it but no matter how gentle I open it up theres still that quik jerk

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Ivan's dyno chart shows 68 hp after his reflash, intake and exhaust mods. That is 21 a hp gain over the stock 47hp. Either way, you won't believe the increase in power and drivability!

Okay, I thought there was more like 53hp stock. I've had mine a month (2017 with 638 miles) and whatever hp it has is pretty fine for my riding style but another 20 can't hurt. I like the cobra intake and I'm still debating an exhaust. I'm leaning black supertrapp and a fabricated upsweep mid-pipe. I've found all the ingredients but I may have to fabricate a mount. All good fun you know!

I am right there with Jevers. I did the Ivan's, velociraptor intake, and V&H slip on. This bike feels completely different after all 3 of those mods and I 100% believe that I have an extra 20hp, as well as zero throttle jerkiness.

Did the same. Way different bike with the intake, exhaust and Ivan’s.

Skyshadow, tell us more about your bored throttle bodies. Very interesting.
