Hey, new owner here. Just curious what the opinions are on the recommended mods. (Intake, exhaust, flyscreen, frame guard, etc.)? Also, is there a thread showing where all the owners are from? I’m in Texas but have never seen one on the road.
Thanks,
Jim

Hello Jim from Waco Texas. My name is Bill and I am from Marine City Michigan. I believe there was a thread a few years ago on where everyone was from. There aren’t many active members anymore.

That is a very clean looking SCR. My suggestion would be to send your ECU to Ivan for a reflash. Google “Ivan’s ECU reflash for Yamaha Bolt”. It transforms the 950 Vtwin into a much more enjoyable ride. It’s hard to describe. You might want to put a few hundred miles on it before you send it out so that you can really enjoy the improvement.

I included a couple photos of my SCR. One showing the saddle bags I use when needed. I recently added a Cobra slip-on exhaust, and have done the other mods you listed as well. Just pick away at them when you can. But again, I would start with the reflash.

That’s weird. I had to expand my response within your response in order to see what you typed…
Oh well. My windshield is from National Cycle. Here is a RevZilla link to it, but there are a lot of suppliers that sell them.

I also have a National Cycle fly screen that I can swap back and forth when I get the urge.

Here is another cheap mod that you really should get right away. This horn is really LOUD and will make sure you are heard when needed. It amazing, and it doesn’t look bad on a Vtwin because it tucks in pretty clean. Do a forum search for Denali and you will find my photos and some mounting suggestions.

Here is the best mod I've forgotten to do! I'm definitely doing this one.

Make sure you also order the mounting bracket for a Yamaha Bolt, and I would recommend ordering the optional wiring harness. The harness was longer than needed, but it was easy to bundle and stash the excess wire.

Thanks man. Love the windshield. Where did you get that? As far as the other mods, I’ll look for options
Thanks. I looked at Ivan’s web site. It’s confusing. What is the cost of this mod?

You have to look hard, but I was great at finding Waldo!

It's $350 according to the site, but judging by the site it hasn't been updated since the early 2000s lol

I already put a link to the windscreen in post #4
Also, what kind of intake is that? It looks great. That’s one thing I want to do asap. My knee already bruised from the stock one.

The intake is by K&N, but it is still a knee knocker. Here is a link, but I did not buy mine this link. It just happens to be the first that came up when I googled it.
FWIW, I have the Cobra intake and I believe that it gives you the most knee room. Jevers
Welcome to the forum! I live in San Diego, the only change I've made to my SCR is adding the fehling rack because the lack of storage was a bummer for longer trips. I do want to put the adv pegs on it though. I've considered Ivan's and exhaust and intake, and even the Stryker pulley but I honestly really enjoy the bike the way it is, maybe ride it a thousand miles and see if you feel the same way. And yes, our machine is kind of rare, mine is grey and I saw a red one on the freeway once, it's the only time I've seen another SCR in person.

God I miss living in San Diego. I shouldn't have left, I don't think I'll ever be able to afford moving back. The ability to so quickly hit the back roads in and beyond east county was the best and the mountains and deserts are so close...
You dont need to do a thing to the bike if you dont want to.
I like having saddle bags to carry stuff as I dont like wearing a back pack.
I have a mohawk windshield, adv pegs, lower bars, barron rasie up kit and a loud muffler. I could go without all that stuff and not miss it much but I like having saddle bags a lot.
Thanks. You're right. It's a great bike as is. I'll ease my way into this. I ordered a windshield for now and see how it goes.
One mod I've read about here is a steering head bearing upgrade. There is supposedly an issue with the OEM bearings that can make the bike develop a wopple at speed. Installing aftermath bearings is supposedly such a difference that I got it for safety reasons.

I purchased the All Balls Bearings kit talked about around here. I was going to wait and ride the bike stock first before installing, just so I can appreciate the difference. But then I thought better and decided to install it before the beginning of this riding season.

As an addendum, I also purchased the Soundbomb with harness and Bolt mount. Shout out to Schu!

I'll ease my way into this. I ordered a windshield for now and see how it goes.
If you have been following my posts, you will notice I took the opposite route with this bike lol! Funny, the one thing I did not buy is a windshield.
