Are you sure?

Man this is the classic of the classics, red tank silver fenders, yamaha has been using it in their enduro models for decades.

My suggestion is to play the red on red on a computer before committing to it.

Regards
Absolutely, my 71 360 Enduro (stolen in 1972) had a black tank with silver fenders. And here's an example of a 250 Enduro from 1970 (not mine, but wish it were).

I'd love to paint the front and rear fenders to match the red of my tank. Anyone know the paint code? Thanks!

Charles.
If you want to paint your fenders red, then paint them red. Or green, or white, or purple...whatever suits your fancy. It's not a 1972 DT360, its a 2017 SCR950. Live for the day, there's nothing more pathetic than nostalgia!

Hi,

Just to follow up on this thread - have you painted your fenders or vinyl wrap yet? or has anyone in the forum done this? Please share pictures - as i am so tempted to either paint or vinyl wrap the fenders!

cheers,

I went black, I did vinyl first, lasted a couple weeks before the little rocks and road stuffs nicked it up. It looked like trash after I caught a couple deep runs. I had it on long enough to know it was going to stay black and painted it. Good news is that vinyl is pretty cheap and the 3M stuff comes right off. $10-$20 worth of vinyl will tell you if you want to paint it.

In fact I've been thinking of a black and yellow "endless road" pattern too.
I rather like the "negative bike" look. I did a GS500 that way one time. The shiny and bright colored parts were the frame. The flat black was the tank and body, I have a GR650 I will be turning into a SCR copy with the frame done in silver with flecks of mylar in multi color with a lot of blue, and the tank and other body would be black or rust colored. Powdercoated rust red. Like someone primered it and forgot to paint it.

I'm lookin' to paint one yellow. I've found the Yamaha decal in black on Ebay. Do you know what the tank is made out of? I'm hoping it is steel or aluminum. Not real big on repainting pvc or nylon. Thanks
It's steel. I want to paint my tank ( or better still, a different one) yellow w/ some 70's vintage graphics. That way I can switch out the colors by changing tanks. AND have a piece of garage art to admire while off the bike.
Any chance you could post a pic of that Yamaha decal?

It is Steel, aluminum is exotic handmade stuff, never on a jap cruiser.
Plastic - ha, I wish, you never have to worry about rust, and I like em, but lots of people have had issues with the modern funky fuel situation causing leaks and warps.
