I bought an SCR950 last last month and due to the price....and since I am lucky enough to have a vacation home....I am thinking about getting a 2nd one so I don't have to haul mine back and forth (21 hour roud trip). The price for both would still be less than one Triumph scrambler or many other bikes near this size. Does anyone have a clue how many of these were manufactured? I would be curious to know how rare our bikes will be.

IIRC there are 500 bikes across the Americas.

Ooh - have you got a source for this? I would be intrigued to know the numbers (both in the US, and in Europe).

My thoughts would be (and they’re just that) - if I could afford two bikes, I wouldn’t be getting the same (brand new or not). Variety is the spice of life! And I love my SCR, so nothing against the bikes.
Welcome, by the way.

Just got mine! Loving it! But a few complaints. Why on earth have they positioned the air filter where they have and why is it so huge!!? My leg keeps hitting it. Annoying. I’m 6’3 215pds.

Any suggestions on an alternative?

Also. Anyone have saddle bags or a bag they’d recomend? And why is there no tie down bolts for a passenger helmet etc??

My point about buying a 2nd SCR rather than a different bike is that it is deeply discounted and thus essentially I would be getting 2 bikes for the price of 1. If it is true that only about 500 of these are in the US, what are your thoughts about price over time? Depreciation or appreciation from the discounted price? My OTD price ended up right about $4,800.

well.....that’s the million dollar question, isn’t it (probably not actually a $1,000,000, but you know what I mean)......?

I guess any bike could appreciate if you give it long enough, and keep it in good enough nick, with low mileage, but have you got 40 years?! :grin2:

What would be a comparable Yam of yesteryear.....Virago? There’s still plenty around, but I don’t see them yet commanding stupid money, nor would I expect them too in the near future. Is the SCR different because it had a much more limited run? Maybe.....but people would still need to want one in the future, for it to be worth more. Who knows......?

That’s probably no help to you at all, but anyways....... I think if I was looking for a future investment, I’d probably be looking elsewhere (whether they’re cheap now, or not). I’m sure someone will chime in with a different opinion, and tell us the SCR is destined to be a future classic.....and I hope they’re right!!! :wink2:

Can’t stand the way the air filter bumps my knee. Any suggestions?
I probably have more rolling miles with my feet on the passenger pegs than I do the main pegs. It changes everything, including your knee against the intake. Sometimes I just bring my left foot forward for gear changes, and then back it goes.
