Yeah, I have exactly the same issue, esp. now I’ve sold the Harley. On the rare occasion I’ve been able to tempt “the boss” out on the SCR in the past, anything over half-an-hour has prompted whinging and kidney punches!!o_O

Corbin did knock this seat up for one of our members long ago (@rescuebot) - but he only posted 4 times, and I’ve never seen it on another bike…..

I never forgot it though. So, when @Scrambled posted recently that he wanted to offload his OEM seat, I dropped him a line, and he kindly agreed to fire it across the pond to me (once again, thanks Tim!!:))

The plan? Well, I can’t afford another Corbin, so one of my two OEM seats will be sent to local seat maestro/legend Tony Archer, along with the above pics, and I’m going to ask him to make up something similar. This will probably be over winter like, but of course pics will be posted, once it’s done……

So, probably a long way of saying - fork out for the above Corbin, or get your original seat altered! Another option might be the Seat Concepts/Luimoto replacement seat covers with gel pads, but I couldn’t speak to their comfort for a pillion. I’m sure someone else will chime in here, though…..

Thanks Ben, I best start saving up then, and await your piccies
I have the seat cover with gel pads. It does help but still not as comfy as that Corbin I'm sure. Still gives me aches at anything more than a couple hours though.

So……Tim’s (@Scrambled ) seat arrived the other day (he’s a #legend), and imagine my surprise when I opened it…….:D

Either the previous owner had a serious weight issue, or they had something done to this seat. I asked Tim, but he’s not changed it - he bought the bike with the seat this way (a few hundred miles on the clock). No wonder he wanted to change it out straight away though - there is no padding on this thing now…..

Here’s my stock seat, for comparison (which I assume is like everyone else’s?):

As I said to Tim, it matters not one bit, as it’ll be going to completely overhauled soon anyway (hopefully).

Maybe the original owner was short of leg??

Maybe somebody put the seat foam in one of those vacuum storage bags and sucked the air out of it, and then put the seat cover back on. :geek:

Is Tim storing a stack of cinder-blocks on that seat, hahaha! That must have been so uncomfortable. I've gotten used to my seat as it's softened up nicely, but I can't imagine losing another 1-2 inches of foam. @SCRBen, you ever think of painting those fenders? I plasti-dipped mine flat black cause I'm a cheap skate (hehe), but they turned out great. This way I can just peel it off if I ever want to do a different color.

What - my lovely silver fenders (mudguards)?? Not a chance ….. they’re one of my favourite things on the bike!!

Don't know what it is with people trying to get me to change the silverwork on my bike - first @Schu with the bashplate, and now you……:sneaky:

Your bash plate shouldn't be a focal point......
Now a Ron Jon's decal, that's a focal point.:geek:

Haha, my bad! Your bike looks great, don't change a thing (unless there's a pinched gator in there somewhere) My rims are silver and with the fenders being the same color, it just didn't look right to me. The fenders being black lets the silver in my rims / spokes stand out more, imo. Did your rims come black stock?

Not only did the euro bikes get black wheels, they also got better brakes than we got. And round side marker reflectors. Amongst other things.
Better breaks too!?! Why wouldn't they just put the better breaks on all bikes? That's crazy..

There it is — I now see what you’re planning to do. I look forward to seeing some pics when it’s done!

Cheers,

That’s crazy seeing the comparison side-by-side. I had nothing to benchmark it with, but I now clearly see what you were talking about 😲

Finally picked up my reupholstered seat from Tony Archer today. Think he’s made a really nice facsimile of the Corbin seat pictured above (but without the Corbin $$$) - look forward to using it come-Springtime and, more importantly, hopefully enticing the Mrs out for some adventures.

It doesn’t look quite as thick/deep as the Corbin seat, to my eyes, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing……it’s also not quite as smart where it meets the tank, but hey-ho…..he didn’t have the bike there to work with.

Thanks again to @Scrambled for the donor OEM seat (y)

That doesn't look bad Ben. I don't like the first photo for some reason. It looks too chunky. :geek: But it looks good in the others.

Aye, we’ll see - in all fairness, it may get dragged out 4 times a year, at most (unless it’s outrageously comfy, of course). Otherwise, the Corbin will remain the premier saddle.

Outstanding, Ben! Very happy I got to see all this come together. Send more pics once you have your bike out on the road - safe travels mate.
