The Perfect Seat Search

Hey everyone, been perusing the forum for a little while looking at all the things I want to do with my new SCR 950 that I just purchased recently. There are quite a few things I have planned now, but I would like one of my first upgrades to be replacing the seat. While I do really enjoy the look of it, the flat bench seat is just not working out for me. I would like something that has an actual spot for you to sit, and not long flat seat that it has or like the Corbin that I keep seeing. With the wind resistance on this bike at 60+ mph I almost feel like I'm gonna start sliding backwards. I found a picture here of a seat that a mod posted that looks so awesome plus it has an actual spot for you to sit in, and I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on how to acquire a seat like it for my bike. I am new to bikes overall so I'm not too sure where to even start. Here is a pic of the seat so you can get an idea of what I'm looking at. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Hiya, and welcome.

The above is also a Corbin, which someone had them custom make for them. He details it on this thread here:

I’m sure they could make another, were you to ask them.

I had something similar knocked up by a local seat maker:

Grey Synthetic rubber Metal Leather Outdoor shoe

Happy Hunting!

Cheers,

Ben

I am extremely envious. That seat of yours looks amazing, and I bet it is at least five times more comfortable than the one I've got. Sounds like I will have to call Corbin and get a quote then. That is going to be the expensive option. I was hoping someone could chime in with a less expensive known alternative, but I'm getting the feeling that there isn't too much in the way of mass produced customization on this specific bike and I'm gonna have to go with something custom.
The other main option people have gone with is getting the OEM saddle recovered with the ‘Seat Concepts’ cover. Use the search facility, and you’ll no doubt find some pics and reviews, but it doesn’t change the look of the seat much from stock (which you sound like you want).

Cheers,
Ben
I too like the look of your seat, umm I mean your MOTORCYCLE seat, Ben. How comfy is it? FWIW, I recovered the original seat pan with a Seat Concepts foam and cover. While it is better than stock, I find it not much more comfortable. Shipping costs would make your custom seat really expensive, so I won't even bother to ask you where you had it done.
How comfy is it?
When I finally get to try it out, I’ll let you know!!:ROFLMAO:🤦‍♂️. (I couldn’t entice she who must be obeyed out on the bike at all this year……)

It was made by a local bike seat guru who’s well-known here in the North of England, Tony Archer. I’ve detailed it elsewhere on here. If you remember, a nice guy in the US sent me his surplus OEM seat, so it’s using that pan.

I don’t think the shipping costs were that prohibitive, so if you change your mind, let me know;). With Corbin being US-based though, I don’t know why you’d consider anything else. Get your hand in your wallet, you tight g*t!!! :ROFLMAO:

I gotta agree. That is one BadAss seat Ben. I like my Seat Concepts seat, butt simply because it keeps the look I wanted to match my herd of old enduros. I’ve always like the Corbin seats in certain colors, butt you nailed it with that new seat.
Butt butt butt……

The Corbin seat made a difference in comfort for me, and was worth the money. They may still have the mold for that seat you have pictured, however, and might not be too much extra to have another made. They have myriad colors for the leather/vinyl/stitching as your preferences dictate.
There's a custom seatmaker near me in Kingston, Washington, USA. I hear they are pretty easy to work with.
I put a Corbin seat on mine a couple years ago and have never regretted it. Took my SCR from a hour ride only to something I now ride all day. Definitely worth the price

Couldn't agree more with you bbmur1369! I did the same thing last year and now I'm regretting not doing is sooner. I rode 10k+ miles on that stock seat. How am I still alive?!?
