Tool box contents and additional supplied tools

10892 Views 32 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  flatrack
Hi I was perusing the owners manual and found the following:

"Also, an additional tool kit was handed out separately at the time of vehicle purchase"

Would any body be able to photograph onboard tool kit contents and also additional tool kit contents?

Thanks!

I think they are referring to the small bag that has the spanner wrench and the lever for the rear shocks.

Agreed
thanks guys but since I am not an owner yet I would like to see the tools, so if any of you could snap a pickie that would be great
Inside the plastic container are two bags of tools. It says that one comes in the box and one the dealer hands you. The dealer put both into the container.
They didnt hand me an extra bag so I asked about it and they said that they put the second one in the container. I checked it. its there.

Thanks a lot bro.

Now I know what I shall receive with my bike :)

Hi again Rokrover

I knew this was going to happen! I got my bike with....3 tools in the main tool box kit, ****!

I wonder if you could help me with identifying the tool sizes for the two spanners on the upper right of our pic, they are upside down.

I am liaising with the dealer to supply these with the "good as new bike customer return" bike they sold me, and I made very clear that part of the deal was getting a complete tool box.

Thanks!
My kit has three open-ended metric spanners: 17x14, 12x10 and another 12x10. No idea why the 12x10 was duplicated and if this is indeed “standard” issue. I never pay much attention to these kits as I have my own well-stocked toolboxes built up over the years. Cheers, RR
Few Tools Short of a Full Kit

That is exactly what I got!
Mine was built in June 2016 with last 4 VIN .....0045. An early model so maybe the factory goofed on my toolkit or cut costs in later production batches.

Skimpy Kits

Well it sounds like most of us got the same scarcely populated tool kit. I have already scrounged up the missing pieces from stray kits of the past. Except for a spare plug wrench. All my cheap tool kit plug wrenches are mandatory equipment on a couple of my old 2-strokes. Funny how some of them never foul plugs yet on other ones I've almost trained them to unscrew themselves by simply pulling the plug wire and cussing.

Sorry I am no lawyer, but I have been a court pest in the past litigating in defense of the oppressed.

Shall we approach Yamaha in relation to this? I mean the "tool kit" cannot be a screwdriver, a spanner and a set of pliers, right? Someone has to own to this, in particular when there is a proper set.

To me, a bike's collectible value is greatly influenced by its integrity including the tool kit. I want my complete tool kit, period.

Also I have a question about warranty in general, I was told my bike has the balance of warranty til the end of the year and I have found that the bushing inside the clutch lever pivot point is missing and this will end up deforming the hole. Do yo guys have a piece of paper that says "warranty" or any of you have made a warranty claim of sorts? How does this work?

Regards

I have 00035. I'll check it tomorrow once the weather's cleared and see what is in my tool kit.

I’ll have a look what’s in a UK toolkit too, but pretty sure - from memory - it’s equally scarcely populated!!
Ben
I dunno you guys but I feel like I am dreaming.
This is surreal, first time I get a motorcycle with no tools, or worse even three useless ones.
It is as - no offense intended - Rokrover pics are fake, an April fool's day joke come early.
Will start with the people who sold me the motorcycle, then take it to Yamaha if necessary.
I think we should make a "class revolt" if not a class action and demand Yamaha to supply us with the complete kit.
