What's an acceptable price for an SCR950?

Hi,
I've found a '17 SCR950 for sale.

It has 4200km and they want C$8,800.

I'd have to drive over 8hrs to get it, over 8hrs back again, and rent a bike trailer.
Fuel and rental will probably be C$300+.

But a local dealer has a brand new Bolt R-Spec available for C$10,000 + fees, making it c.C$11,250 on-the-road.

I'm not sure if driving over 16 hrs to get a 5-year old bike makes sense when I could get a brand new one here at home, albeit a Bolt instead of an SCR.

Does this sound like a good deal?
Does anything age badly on an SCR that 5 year's of exposure to the elements would've made dubious?
Is the riding position / experience of the SCR significantly different to the Bolt, so much so that the Bolt can't be considered an alternative?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - DT

$8,800 CDN seems high to me. I paid $5k USD, but my bike had about 14K miles. I think if you could get them down to the low to mid $7k range, that would be competitive. 8 hours is a hell of a drive for a bike you've never ridden before. I would seriously consider riding the local Bolt. If you LOVE the bolt, no reason to drive 8 hours. If you love the Bolt and wish it were a little more, scrambly, well, maybe it's worth it to take a look at that SCR. OR, you might consider having it shipped. Probably cheaper in the long run, depending on what your time's worth.

I paid $6K US with 6100 Miles. Not sure what the exchange rate is lately. I bought mine at a dealership. I've never seen one for sale near me from a private seller so I have no idea if that would be a better deal.
I have just paid 265,000 THB/7,086 USD delivered [11 hours drive] for a pristine 2020 model with 4,200 km on it and an aftermarket seat and custom-made bashplate. Well pleased because bike prices in Thailand are more than in GB, meaning a lot more than in the US.

I bought my SCR about 10 days ago from a private seller who bought it new, then promptly got his back hurt at work and couldn't ride it. Finally gave up on his back getting back to normal and sold it with 110 miles on it for $5,000. Perfect condition.

I got mine for $7000 from a dealership with 700 miles on it in August, but then they added $400 to the price to cover a comprehensive inspection. It’s been great and I put 5200 miles on it in 3 months.

I haven't put one mile on the SCR since bringing it home last November, so I'm ready to sell it. $6500 OBO. It has drag pipes, aftermarket air filter and Ivan's flashed ECU. I put these things on but still haven't ridden it. Available with all the original things as a bonus. Or less if you don't want either the originals or the mods. 360 271-9731 Near Seattle WA.

Dang. Interesting deal, but unfortunately I'm not in the market for a second SCR. Probably get some bites if you put it up on Craigslist. I wouldn't bother with Cycletrader. I'm in Bellingham, BTW. Where are you at?

Curious to see what drag pipes you mean. Pics?
😁HI JB. Text me at the number in my post and I can respond with a couple photos. I'm in Bremerton. A couple hours South of you. Free delivery:)
