Just a thread to share your rides on, maybe a few pictures and whatnot.

I thought it'd be a good idea after reading someone else's ride the Tail of the Dragon, a trail I'm too far away to ever ride on but maybe someone here is closer to it?

And I found out there's a "tree of shame" at the Tail.

The tree has grown to an epic display!

Every couple of years, I do a "Deals Gap In A Day" ride from Columbus, GA.
Not every bike was suitable, but, I've done it on a CB750 Nighthawk, XL600V Transalp, Suzuki DL1000 and a Honda Gold Wing so far.
Makes for a very long, fun ride. =)
Guys on the smaller bikes have it best, nothing like getting higher up in the rev range to take on roads like that. Don't have to tell you what its like on bigger bikes :D

Wow, you banked hard enough in turns to scuff the side of your bike? Nice! That's one of my fears with lower bikes and carriers, fear of scraping something in hard turns.
Yea, it was almost funny when I got home after my first Dragon/Gold Wing adventure and found this on both sides. LOL
It's when Genny asked , "Are we scraping?" I knew it'd be okay. She didn't panic and I had spray paint at home. =)

Today I took a ride down Ortega Highway towards lake Elsinore. There's a place called the lookout roadhouse that is near the end and overlooks the lake and is a great place to relax. With that being said, Ortega is known to be the deadliest highway for motorcyclist in Orange County. It took a lot of focus on the ride and by the time I got to the lookout I was mentally ready for a break. However, the SCR handled it beautifully! The bike powered through corners like nobody's business and I had a blast! I definitely would be interested in a new seat after today because my butt was getting sore!

Why's it the deadliest highway? Are there sheer cliff drops?
It's a lot of twists and turns and a lot of traffic. One side is mountain and the other is cliff for about 10 miles or so. I think most deaths are people trying to push the limits though. I do remember last year though a guy on a bike was killed because a car made a sudden u turn in front of him.

Now that is something exhilarating to know. I'm not too sure about you guys but the thought of something like that gets my gears going! Of course in those situations, you really have to keep sensible and know what you're doing. Pushing to the extremities is not advisable at all no matter how experienced you are as the consequences are definitely not worth it.

There are consequences for pretty much everything in this life. I know for me, after an exhilarating ride I feel more alive. It's a fine line. Ride safe.

I agree. I typically try to find exhilaration wherever I possibly can haha it's just the bike is the easiest way I've found.

Once we're all sensible and possess some sort of lick of common sense, we should be alright.

Doing things like these is definitely a stress reliever, especially when you finally come to a stop and just have your heart pounding, your breathing a bit heavy, and you just burst out into a big laugh !

Had to google Ortega Highway and holy cow is it a technical ride; single lane roads with twists, turns, and cliffs on one side. But it's a risk we all take as motorcyclists, from the first day we took that paper test to passing the road test. Just gotta ride sensibly and be aware of our surroundings, especially bad drivers...
