There was some discussion recently in the “Shifter Adjustment” thread (Engine and Technical section) about the merits of an engine guard kit to prevent expensive damage from dropping the bike. Some doubt was raised there about Yamaha's accessory kit 1TP-F43B0-V0 fitting the SCR950, as our Scrambler is NOT listed in the applicable Bolt models.

I am now happy to report Yamaha’s kit is a direct bolt on to the SCR950. It looks really nice and understated in matt black and provides a comfortable perch to double as highway pegs, so I am no longer interested in forward controls.

The hardest part was removing the left side (kick stand, shifter) bolts as the originals were sealed with red Loctite. I spent some time cleaning out the threads and used the milder blue Loctite on reassembly. The kit provides new bolts that are slightly longer to accommodate the extra thickness from the guard bracket that goes between frame and original foot peg bracket.

I like the idea, but this moves the footpegs out even further, and that's not good at all. The SCR950 already drags pegs and especially the right footpeg bracket too easily already. Moving these out even further is a bad idea IMO.

Good to know they fit, now there's a place to mount folding foot pegs if one so desires. On longer rides its nice sometimes to be able to put your feet up. They do move the stock foot pegs out a little but its only about a quarter inch...
